How long does a game of bowling take?1
A game of bowling takes approximately 10 minutes per person. So if six people were bowling, it would typically last about an hour. The more players on your lane, the longer the game will last.
How many people can bowl on one lane?1
We generally advise 6 people to a lane with a maximum being 8 in some centres.
Can I bowl in my own shoes?1
Yes, we prefer everyone (adults and children) to bowl in their own shoes at our centres, as long as they are a flat soled, closed toe shoes.
How old do you have to be to bowl?1
There are no restrictions, although we suggest that given the weight of bowling balls, the minimum age for a child to bowl is four. As long as you’re fit and strong enough, there is no upper age limit, and we love to see all ages coming together to have great fun on the lanes. Of course, areas of our centres have age restrictions, so we can't allow under 18's in our bar after 9pm. Under 18's are also only allowed in our premises after 6pm with a responsible adult/parent or legal guardian. We will ask for proof of age. The junior age range is from 0-15 years old.
What age is classed as junior for bowling?1
The junior age range is from 0-15 years old. We suggest that the minimum age for a child to bowl is 4, but it is solely dependent on the child and their ability.
What is the lightest ball you do?1
Our smallest ball is XS, which is 6lb in weight. We do have ramps that let kids push the ball at speed instead of bowling by hand, and bumpers that stop the balls going into the gutter.
What is your dress code?1
There is no set dress code, other than that we ask our guests to remove any hoods and caps so that we can see their smiling faces! Obviously, we ask that you behave appropriately and considerately at all times, which covers wearing appropriate clothing for a family centre.
Can I book bowling in advance?1
Yes. As our bowling centres can get very busy at peak times, and we don’t like turning people away, we always advise people to book online in advance. Book online or through our contact centre in advance for the best prices.
How much does a game of bowling cost?1
Our standard prices and offers can be found on your nearest centre page. Find your nearest centre here.
What is the breakdown of the family deal?1
The family deal for 4 people is for 2 adults and 2 juniors, or 1 adult and 3 juniors.
The family deal for 5 people is for 2 adults and 3 juniors, or 1 adult and 4 juniors.
Do you have to pay to watch other people bowl?1
If for whatever reason you decide not to bowl, you are welcome to watch your family and friends score those strikes from the sidelines without having to pay.
Do you offer a concession rate?1
Yes, we offer concessionary rates of around 50% to those with disabilities (and their carers) and seniors. These rates are available every weekday before 6pm, for 48 weeks out of 52, including the summer and Easter holidays. There are certain limited ‘peak’ periods where it is not always possible to offer any concessionary discounts. This applies to all our concessionary or promotional rates, including those with disabilities (and their carers), adult, family, student and senior groups.
Do you offer discounts for large parties, group bookings and students?1
Yes absolutely, we are passionate about providing great party experiences for great value. Hollywood Bowl has a fantastic range of offers and party deals available. Check our party packages for more information.
